after quitting her job in the
oil industry in 2003, claudia
méndez, a young bolivian woman
with a degree in economics,
decided to start her own
business. her dream was to
create a company that generated
as many local jobs as possible
and offered the world socially-conscious,
carefully hand-crafted,
beautiful products using local
materials and labor.
claudia founded orígenes bolivia
in december 2003. the company
took its first steps by
manufacturing and exporting hand-made
alpaca home products. later,
origenes included an apparel
line to its collection, as well
as the provision of private
label services.
nowadays, besides exporting its
production, origenes bolivia
sell its products locally
through its retail store in la
paz called “O’ boutique”. |
